Fall semesters

MESA faciliates the annual San Diego MESA Alliance collaborative STEM Shadow Day, which is open to all SDSU students (MESA program students are given a priority in being matched to participating companies). Students "shadow" an engineer or scientist in their engineering or scientific work environment and learn more about the company and career field.

Training Academies

Any semester

The purpose of a Training Academy is for the industry host to provide "in-house" training that addresses gaps they are seeing from new graduates/new hires.  This is a topic/concept or technical skill set that students will not receive in the classroom; mixed with soft skills, emotional intelligence, and professional development to enhance their employability.

MESA Summer Undergraduate Research Academy

Summer semesters

MESA students from SDSU and local partner community colleges conduct hands-on research guided by faculty and graduate student mentors in various SDSU engineering labs for 8 weeks.  The Research Academy also includes professional development opportunities, lab tours, and a concluding poster presentation.

MESA Student Leadership Conference

Fall semesters

The Student Leadership Conference (SLC), facilitated by MESA California, brings together engineering, computer science and other STEM undergraduate students with industry professionals to develop the next generation of diverse leaders. The conference is an opportunity for STEM students to develop the teamwork and leadership skills necessary to successfully transition from college to professional careers.
